Mission:
To create a group inside the Order of the Arrow Lodge to provide construction manpower and resources to the Circle Ten Council Camps for improving council camps through renovation, conservation, or new construction of capital improvement projects. This should always be completed in a professional manner with the proper materials and experienced supervision of craftsmen or experts in the various trades along with proper planning.
Goals:
1)Conduct Ordeal weekend projects that include meaningful work projects for candidates and members with some permanent renovations or upgrades or repairs of existing facilities with the proper craftsmen and planning.
2)Create a list of craftsmen and crews in the Lodge and Council that are willing to volunteer their time to work on these projects.
3)Once a year, pick a camp and a major project at that camp to complete off the capital improvements and facilities list for that camp.
Calendar:
1) Committee Meetings: Twice a year (winter and summer) conduct a Construction meeting of the Lodge to coordinate the projects with camps to ensure completion of projects and that they do not run over a year to complete. One of those meetings should be with the Camp Committee Chairmen and Rangers to discuss priorities and decide on the next projects to complete.
2) Ordeal Projects: Hold planning meetings a minimum of six weeks before from each Ordeal weekend to ensure a good list of enough projects, adequate number of the right tools in good repair and ready for use, and select crew leaders for each of the work projects and work crews to complete the project.
3) Council Facilities and Camping Committee: Work closely with the Council Camping Committee to ensure the OA is working on their priorities and goals for the camps.
Committee Structure:
1) Primary Committee: Chairmen familiar with construction; at least one but hopefully two Architect/Engineers familiar with proper construction techniques and design, Communications person in charge of communicating with the lodge, creating and maintaining a list of craftsmen in the lodge and council that are willing to work on projects to benefit the Council Camps along with keeping track of the service hours of volunteers for recognition and Service Hour tracking purchases.
2) Secondary Committee: Crew Leaders, Craftsmen, and Workers that are willing to work on camp projects at either Ordeals or other weekends to benefit the council camps.
